This came to light during the maiden interaction and orientation meeting in Accra for the Board, Management and Regional Commanders of GIS.
He declared that looking at the daunting financial burden on the government; the Service has embarked on an aggressive drive to rope in strategic stakeholders and partners in the management of migration in Ghana in the developmental agenda. Through these collaborations, the Service has benefited tremendously from foreign - sponsored projects which include AENEAS 1 & 2, the GIS - Danish, GIS - UK, and the GIS-Spanish Projects.
The Ghana Integrated Migration Approach, (GIMMA), which seeks to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Service to successfully manage migration, is the latest Project Europe Union sponsored.
Dr. Wiredu thanked the entire International agencies and their respective government for their continuous supports towards fighting illegal migration, and building the capacity of GIS personnel, and the Service as whole.
