The Deputy Director of Operations, Felix Yaw Sarpong receiving the computers from the Chief Executive Officer and Administrator of GIFEC, Hon. Kofi Attor at the handing over ceremony flanked by staff of GIFEC & the GIS.

The Ghana Investment for Electronic Communications [GIFEC] at a short ceremony in Accra, has presented 120 computers to the Ghana Immigration Service [GIS].


The equipment which is worth GH¢244,800.00 is to be distributed amongst all the Regions beginning with a pilot phase in the Western, Central, Greater Accra, Volta and Eastern Regions. The rest of the Regions would receive theirs by the end of the second quarter of 2015

. This is to enable personnel of the Service especially those in the regions have access to ICT.Presenting the equipment to the Service, the Chief Executive Officer and Administrator of GIFEC, Hon. Kofi Attor assured the Service

of his outfits support to the GIS and other Sister Security agencies in providing internet and computer accessories for the upgrading, strengthening  and development of government institutions as far as globalization and information technology [IT] was concerned.

Hon. Kofi Attor said, the GIS should ensure that the equipment was put to proper use by Officers and Men of the Service.  
As part of the gesture, he further indicated that his outfit would sponsor a training course for the facilitators or schedule Officers who would be put in charge to effectively manage the GIS computer laboratories.


Receiving the items, the Deputy Director of Operations, Felix Yaw Sarpong, on behalf of the Director of Immigration, expressed appreciation to GIFEC for the gesture and support and was optimistic that the computers would be put to good use and handled with care.


He called on personnel to take advantage of the computer laboratories when setup to sharpen their skills. Items received included computers, printers, scanners, projectors, application software, and an internet server with one year warranty.
