the processing and management of refugee in the country.

COURTESY AND CO-OPERATION
• Officers will provide friendly and courteous services
to clients
• Passengers will not have to wait in a queue for longer
than three(3) minutes at the entry points
• Officers who serve clients have tags or id cards.
• We will provide clean, healthy and client friendly
reception areas/centers
• All office doors will be clearly marked to facilitate
ease of identification.
• We will provide information in an open and transparent
manner
• Officers will provide accurate and reliable
information to clients
• Customers will not have to interface with more than
two(2) officers at our reception center when seeking
information via telephone
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM THE PUBLIC
To assist the GIS meet its standards and provide
efficient services, we expect the public to be informed
and comply with the following
• Every visitor to Ghana must obtain a visa/entry permit
from Ghana Mission abroad except ECOWAS citizens and diplomaict passport holders.
• Prior to the arrival of visitors from countries that
have no Ghana Mission, an application for a Visa-on-arrival may be made to the Director of Immigration by
visitor’s host, business partner/representative or
directly by the visitor through fax or email
• Whereas ECOWAS nationals are granted maximum of ninety
(90) days on arrival, all visitors from non ECOWAS
countries are entitled to sixty (60) days maximum, on
arrival at the port of entry.
• All visitors wishing to extend their visitors permit
may on application to the Director of Immigration be
granted such extension up to a maximum period of six (6)
months
• Foreign nationals wishing to live and work in Ghana
should obtain work and Residence permit
• Corporate bodies and other institution that wish to
employ foreigners must obtain work permit from the
Immigrat Quota,( Ministry of the Interior) the Ghana
Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) or the Ghana Free
Zones Board (GFZB) as the case may be after which a
residence permit is obtain on application to the
Director of immigration
